La práctica totalidad de las células que constituyen tu cuerpo se parecen a las amebas, unos organismos individuales que han desarrollado una estrategia cooperativa para la supervivencia mutua. En términos básicos, los seres humanos no somos más que la consecuencia de una «conciencia colectiva amebiana». Al igual que una nación refleja los rasgos distintivos de sus ciudadanos, la humanidad debe reflejar la naturaleza básica de nuestras comunidades celulares.“
¿Qué es un simbionte?, según el RAE es “un individuo asociado en simbiosis, es decir en una asociación de individuos animales o vegetales de diferentes especies, sobre todo si los simbiontes sacan provecho de la vida en común”.
Esta asociación lleva implícito el compromiso de buscar, no sólo el cuidado individualista sobre uno mismo, sino el cuidado sobre los individuos a los que uno se asocia. Porque una persona que se asocia en simbiosis, ha llegado a comprender que su mayor potencial se encuentra en la fructificación de esa sociedad.
Hace años, un estudiante le preguntó a la antropóloga Margaret Mead qué consideraba que era el primer signo de civilización en una cultura. El estudiante esperaba que Mead hablara de anzuelos, ollas de barro o piedras de moler.
Pero no. Mead dijo que el primer signo de civilización en una cultura antigua era un fémur (hueso del muslo) que se había roto y luego sanado. Mead explicó que en el reino animal, si te rompes una pierna, mueres. No puedes huir del peligro, ir al río a tomar algo o buscar comida. Eres carne para las bestias que merodean. Ningún animal sobrevive a una pierna rota el tiempo suficiente para que el hueso sane.
Un fémur roto que se ha curado es evidencia de que alguien se ha tomado el tiempo para quedarse con el que se cayó, ha vendado la herida, le ha llevado a un lugar seguro y le ha ayudado a recuperarse. Mead dijo que ayudar a alguien más en las dificultades es donde comienza la civilización.
Para nosotros la cultura no es algo que simplemente se observa como espectador. Para nosotros la cultura es información que se adquiere de otros miembros de tu especie a través de la enseñanza, la imitación y otras formas de transmisión social y es capaz de afectar nuestro comportamiento como individuos
Nos relacionamos haciendo música. Jugamos improvisando y lo hacemos frecuentemente con amigos. Esto está lejos de ser algo nuevo. En lugares donde nadie sabe qué es la pobreza porque es como el agua para los peces que viven en su interior, la música estructura la interdependencia entre los individuos desde la primera infancia y les hace felices ofreciéndoles un incentivo incomparable que ha sido parte de su cultura por muchos siglos. Uno puede jugar este juego con cualquier objeto a mano, aprender y permanecer entusiasmado en el proceso creativo de descubrir y comunicar quién es, qué siente y de qué forma parte durante toda su vida.
¿De donde procede la emoción, el disfrute, la sensación que experimentan las personas que consiguen desarrollar sus capacidades musicales lo suficiente para poder crear música improvisando junto a otros?. Procede del hecho de que creas un canto compartido, una ceremonia en la que te sientes incluido con los demás. Hacer música juntos es una de las mejores formas de sentir la unión, la amistad que pueden existir.
La palabra no nos permite hacer algo así. Tu hablas y yo escucho, y luego yo hablo y tu escuchas. Podemos decir todos lo mismo y convertirnos en un discurso con gran fuerza, si decimos cosas diferentes podemos sentir un galimatías. La creación musical en grupo permite moldear ese discurso estéticamente, emocionalmente. Es una experiencia que ninguna persona viva debería dejar de sentir en su vida. Porque tiene el poder de cambiar tu vida por completo.
Como programa de la plataforma Symbionts, la red Busílis toma como horizonte teórico la esfera de las interacciones humanas y su contexto social, más que la afirmación de un espacio simbólico autónomo y privado. Como decía Marcel Duchamp: “El arte es un juego entre los hombres de todas las épocas”. Cada trabajo que se publica en estas páginas representa el modelo de un mundo viable. Lo opuesto a un objeto cerrado sobre sí mismo por un estilo o una firma. Las formas se desarrollan mutuamente en el encuentro. La esencia de la práctica artística reside aquí en la invención de relaciones entre sujetos; cada obra en particular es la propuesta para habitar un mundo en común y el trabajo de cada artista, un haz de relaciones con el mundo, que genera a su vez otras relaciones.
Esta interacción entre artistas que trabajan diferentes disciplinas en momentos distantes en el tiempo y en el espacio, se convierte aquí en un entorno navegable. Una memoria estructurada de nuestro imaginario sonoro y visual.
El sencillo esquema de funcionamiento es el de una red de miembros categorizados por su nivel de implicación.

What is a symbiont? According to the RAE, it is “an individual associated in symbiosis, that is, in an association of animal or plant individuals of different species, especially if the symbionts take advantage of life in common.”
This association implies the commitment to seek, not only individualistic care for oneself, but also care for the individuals with whom one is associated. Because a person who associates in symbiosis has come to understand that her greatest potential is found in the fruition of that society.
Anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.

But Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.

For us, culture is not something that is simply observed as a spectator. For us it is information capable of affecting individuals’ behavior that they acquire from other members of their species through teaching, imitation, and other forms of social transmission.
We interact making music. We play improvising it and we do it frequently and among friends. This is far from being anything new. In places where nobody knows what poverty is because it is like water for the fish that live inside it, music structures the interdependence between individuals since early childhood and makes them happy by offering them an incomparable and highly undemanding incentive which has been part of their environment for many centuries. One can play this game with any object at hand and remain thrilled by our process of discovering who we are and what are we a part of throughout our whole lives.
Where does the emotion, enjoyment, and feeling come from when people develop their musical abilities enough to be able to create music improvising together with others? It comes from the fact that you create a shared song, a ceremony in which you feel included with others. Making music together is one of the best ways to feel the union, the friendship that can exist.
The word does not allow us to do something like that. You speak and I listen, and then I speak and you listen. We can all say the same thing and become a speech with great force, if we say different things we can feel gibberish. The musical creation in group allows to shape that speech aesthetically, emotionally. It is an experience that no living person should stop feeling in their life. Because it has the power to change your life completely.
As a program of the Symbionts platform, Busílis network takes as theoretical horizon, the realm of human interactions and its social context, rather than the assertion of an independent and private symbolic space. As Marcel Duchamp said: “art is a game between men of all ages”. Each work published in these pages represents a viable model. The opposite of an object closed onto itself by a style or a signature. Forms are mutually developed in the meeting. The essence of artistic practice resides here in the invention of relationships between subjects; each work is in particular the proposal to inhabit a world in common and each artist’s work, a bundle of relations with the world, which in turn generates other relationships.
